The Smithtown Landing Men’s Golf Association (SLMGA) is an organization that provides a social and competitive golf experience among its members. We are a Member Club of the MGA and all tournament play is governed by the Rules of Golf as published by the USGA, including the USGA’s Pace of Play Program. In order to be considered for membership the following requirements are recommended:
- Applicants should be (not required to be) a resident of the Smithtown Township or Own a business in the Smithtown Township.
- Applicants must have a current Town of Smithtown Golf & Pool Card only if you are a Smithtown Township resident in order to play at Smithtown Township Resident rates.
- Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
- Applications will be reviewed and approved by the Membership Committee and the Board of Directors.
- Applicants should have a USGA handicap index that equates to a handicap of 36 or less from the Blue Tees at Smithtown Landing Golf Course.
- Applicants may be considered for membership without a handicap; however, Applicants will not qualify to participate in tournaments until a valid handicap is established. Upon establishing a handicap, Applicants must play to a maximum handicap of 36 from the blue tees at Smithtown Landing when participating in tournaments. Handicaps greater than 36 will be adjusted to the maximum handicap of 36.

Q: What does my membership include?
A: Access to the members portal which contains detailed league information including but not limited to the Tournament schedule of events, ability to register for participation in Tournament events, Tournament results and Tournament history. Also inlcuded in your membership is our Club Championship reception lucheon (members and their guests) typically held at Smithtown Landing CC on the outdoor patio overlooking the golfcourse. Additionally, we have our annual awards Dinner Reception (Members only) typically held at the WaterMill. Your membership also includes your fee for your GHIN number with the USGA and access to the GHIN system for maintaining your handicap (ghin.com).
We may accept applications for enrollment during the year.
- Full season members: based on availability, are accepted from February through June 30th. Full season members may join without having an established USGA handicap but cannot play in tournaments until one has been established.
- Mid-season members: based on availability, are accepted after June 30th and must have an established USGA handicap to be considered. Dues for mid-season members are pro-rated and applicants may begin playing in events after June 30th.

The SLMGA is honored to be the only club from a public course to have been awarded the privilege to marshal the 15th hole at Shinnecock Hills for the 2004 U.S.Open, the 15th Hole at Bethpage Black for the 2002 U.S.Open and the 16th hole at the 2009 U.S. Open at Bethpage Black.
